26 Indian stocks hit dividend record date, Kotak lifts FD rates, and regulators warn of AI trading scams

Tip of the day

Check a firm's registration yourself before you invest a single rupee or dollar

Scammers now use AI to build polished websites, fake dashboards and even convincing video calls. Before you invest, look up the person and firm on your regulator's own register, not through a link they send you. Slow down and talk it over with someone you trust: pressure, secrecy and 'guaranteed' returns are the classic red flags.

🧭 Reality check: effort & risk

Effort: about 10 minutes per check. Cost: free. Risk: a clean registration does not make an investment safe or profitable, and clone firms copy real names, so match contact details too. Not financial advice.

FINRA warns AI makes investment fraud harder to spot

    Source: Traders Magazine

Traders Magazine reports FINRA officials say AI lets fraudsters impersonate financial professionals, create fake identities and build convincing websites in minutes. They warned that video calls are no longer definitive proof of identity and that AI search engines are not a verification tool, and flagged urgency, guaranteed returns, exclusivity and requests for secrecy as red flags.

💬 Why it mattersBefore you send money, check the person or firm with the regulator directly and talk it over with someone you trust; a slick website or video call proves nothing. More on AI tools →

    Source: Mint

Suryoday SFB offers up to 8.60% to seniors on a five-year FD and Utkarsh SFB up to 8.50% on 666 days. Mint links the hikes to the RBI's 25 bps repo rate rise to 5.50% in October.

💬 Why it mattersCompare tenures and banks before you lock in, and check deposit insurance limits and early-withdrawal terms, especially at small finance banks. Not financial advice.

    Source: Alberta Securities Commission

The Alberta Securities Commission says fraudsters use claims about AI, algorithms or trading bots to make scams look credible. It says fake dashboards can show profits that never happened, small early withdrawals are used to build trust, and victims are later asked to pay 'fees' or 'taxes' to get their money.

💬 Why it matters'AI-powered' plus 'no risk' or tiered bronze, silver and gold packages is a classic warning sign; verify registration yourself before investing anything. More on Side-hustle automation →
