How a SIP calculator works
A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) puts a fixed amount into a mutual fund every month. Each instalment compounds for the months left, so early instalments grow the most.
This tool compounds monthly at your expected yearly return ÷ 12 and assumes each instalment goes in at the start of the month. With a step-up, the monthly amount rises once a year by the % you choose.

FAQ
What formula does this SIP calculator use?
FV = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the yearly return ÷ 12 and n is the number of months. It assumes you invest at the start of each month, the same convention most Indian mutual fund calculators use. For example, ₹10,000 a month at 12% for 10 years gives about ₹23,23,391.
What is a step-up SIP?
A step-up (top-up) SIP raises your monthly amount by a fixed percentage once a year, for example 10% as your salary grows. The calculator raises the amount every 12 months.
Is the return guaranteed?
No. Equity mutual fund returns vary year to year and can be negative. The calculator uses one fixed rate only to illustrate compounding. Past returns do not guarantee future returns.
Does it include tax, expense ratio or inflation?
No. Results are before capital gains tax, fund expense ratios and exit loads, and in today's rupees without inflation adjustment. Use a lower return to stay conservative.
