How the FIRE calculator works
FIRE number = annual expenses ÷ withdrawal rate. At a 4% withdrawal rate that is 25 times your yearly spending.
Because prices rise, the tool inflates your expenses each month and grows your savings at the expected return, adding your monthly investment. The first month your corpus is at least the inflated target gives the estimated FIRE age.

FAQ
What is a FIRE number?
It is the corpus whose yearly withdrawals could cover your yearly expenses: annual expenses ÷ withdrawal rate. At 4% that is 25× annual expenses, so ₹50,000 a month (₹6 lakh a year) needs about ₹1.5 crore in today's money.
Why does my FIRE number grow over time?
Expenses rise with inflation. The calculator inflates your expenses every month at the rate you choose, so the target at your FIRE age is larger than today's figure.
Is 4% a safe withdrawal rate in India?
The 4% rule comes from US market studies. With higher Indian inflation, many planners use 3–3.5% to be cautious. A lower rate means a bigger, safer target. No rate is guaranteed to last.
How is the FIRE age calculated?
Your savings grow monthly at the expected return ÷ 12 and your monthly investment is added. The FIRE age is the first month your corpus is at least the inflation-adjusted FIRE number. The tool checks up to age 100 and assumes a flat monthly investment.
